BuildCard details

The Commander

Whenever one or more cards leave your graveyard, create a 3/2 red and white Spirit creature token.

+1: You may discard a card. If you do, draw two cards, then mill a card.

−4: Spirits you control gain double strike and vigilance until end of turn.

Quintorius, History Chaser can be your commander.

Guide

Gameplan

Quintorius is a planeswalker commander who turns graveyard exile into an army of 3/2 Spirits, then swings for lethal with his -4 granting double strike and vigilance. You fill your graveyard with the +1 loot ability, then repeatedly exile cards from it (impulse draw, flashback, escape, foretell payoffs) to spew out tokens each turn. The deck snowballs from a midrange engine into a wide, hasty beatdown.

Strengths

  • Generates a wide board for free off any graveyard-exile effect
  • Built-in card advantage and graveyard filling from the +1
  • Doubles as a one-card army-and-anthem that protects itself with vigilance/double strike
  • Resilient token production survives most single-target removal and board wipes (commander stays)

Weaknesses

  • Tokens are fragile 3/2s vulnerable to sweepers
  • Heavily reliant on commander being active; loyalty can be attacked down
  • Needs both a graveyard-fill engine and exile triggers to function—can stall if one half is missing
  • RW lacks strong interaction and tutoring; weak to fast combo decks
  • Graveyard hate shuts off the central engine

Key Cards

  • Faithless Looting — Cheap way to dump cards into the yard to fuel later exile triggers.
  • Underworld Breach — Exiles cards from your graveyard repeatedly, firing Quintorius for tons of Spirits.
  • Anje's Ravager — Impulsive draw exiles cards each combat, generating tokens and card advantage.
  • Reckless Impulse — Cheap impulse draw that exiles cards from outside, but pairs with rummaging to keep triggering tokens.
  • Bonecrusher Giant — Escape and adventure cards exile from the yard, each making a Spirit.
  • Cathars' Crusade — Turns your flood of Spirit tokens into an exponentially growing threat.
  • Anointed Procession — Doubles every Spirit token Quintorius makes, accelerating lethal boards.
  • Skullclamp — Sacrifices excess 3/2 Spirits for cards, then they leave the yard later for more tokens.

Upgrade Path

Add more 'free' graveyard-exile triggers like Underworld Breach, Bonecrusher Giant, and escape/flashback bombs so every spell makes multiple Spirits. Tighten the token payoff package with Impact Tremors, Cathars' Crusade, and Anointed Procession, then add token doublers and protection (Heroic Intervention, Flawless Maneuver) to insulate your board. Improve mana with fast rocks (Arcane Signet, Talisman of Conviction) and a few RW tutors/wheels to assemble engines faster.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Alpha strike with a wide Spirit board after activating -4 for double strike
  • ▸Anthem/token-doubler effects (Cathars' Crusade, Anointed Procession) overwhelming the table
  • ▸Combat damage funneled through Skullclamp/aristocrats value into a grindy win

Archetypes

  • Tokens / Go-Wide Aggro — Every graveyard-exile trigger pumps out 3/2 Spirits that the -4 turns into a lethal alpha strike.
  • Spellslinger / Graveyard Value — Flashback, escape, foretell, and impulse-draw cards naturally exile from the yard to trigger tokens while generating advantage.
  • Aristocrats — Sacrificing tokens and recurring them from the graveyard loops with sac outlets and exile recursion.
