BuildCard details

The Commander

Deathtouch

Whenever Tinybones deals combat damage to a player, you may cast target nonland permanent card from that player's graveyard, and mana of any type can be spent to cast that spell.

Guide

Gameplan

Suit up a tiny deathtouch skeleton with evasion, connect for combat damage, and steal opponents' best permanents straight from their graveyards—using any mana to cast them. You grind value off everyone's dead creatures and artifacts while a stax/discard shell keeps the table low on resources.

Strengths

  • One-mana commander that's cheap to recast and immediately threatening with deathtouch
  • Steals opponents' bombs, ramp, and removal magnets for free without paying their costs
  • Mono-black gives access to elite tutors, discard, and recursion
  • Deathtouch makes it a strong blocker and lets it trade up in combat

Weaknesses

  • Tiny body needs evasion/protection to reliably connect
  • Trigger depends on opponents having permanents in graveyards—dead vs. graveyard-light decks
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate (Rest in Peace, Bojuka Bog) shutting off the steal
  • Mono-black struggles to deal with resolved enchantments and to draw cards without paying life

Key Cards

  • Rogue's Passage — Guarantees Tinybones connects to trigger the graveyard heist every turn.
  • Whispersilk Cloak — Grants unblockable plus hexproof, making your fragile commander a consistent threat.
  • Bontu's Monument — Reduces recast cost and drains the table each time you redeploy Tinybones.
  • Liliana, Death's Majesty — Mills opponents to fill their graveyards with juicy targets for the steal trigger.
  • Geth, Lord of the Vault — Doubles down on graveyard theft and self-mills opponents to feed Tinybones.
  • Mindslicer — Forces everyone to dump their hands to graveyards, stocking targets you can plunder.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and evasion enablers (Sol Ring, Dimir Signet, Trailblazer's Boots, Aqueous Form) so Tinybones connects on turn 2-3. Lean into self-targeting opponents with mill (Mesmeric Orb, Syr Konrad) to guarantee high-value graveyard targets, and include reanimation backups like Reanimate. Tutors (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor) and protection (Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots) make the engine reliable, while Toxic Deluge and removal handle racing decks.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Steal and assemble overwhelming board advantage from opponents' best permanents
  • ▸Drain life via repeated commander recasts with cost reducers (Bontu's/Caged Sun-style payoffs)
  • ▸Beat down with stolen threats and deathtouch evasion
  • ▸Combo finish using stolen mana rocks/creatures or mono-black combos like Gray Merchant

Archetypes

  • Graveyard Theft / Value — The trigger directly recurs opponents' permanents, turning their best cards into your engine.
  • Voltron-lite Evasion — Cheap commander wants minimal equipment/auras to connect and steal each combat.
  • Stax / Discard — Mono-black discard and resource denial keep opponents weak while filling their graveyards.
  • Reanimator — Self/opponent mill plus reanimation spells synergize with stocking and exploiting graveyards.
