Gameplan
Tuya Bearclaw is a midrange/aggro beater that mirrors your biggest creature. Build a board with at least one large fatty, then swing with Tuya, who doubles down by adding the greatest other power to her own stats for a huge, often one-shot-capable hit. Ramp into big threats early, deploy a heavy hitter, and turn Tuya into a commander-damage clock.
Strengths
- Cheap 3-mana commander that scales with your board, making her efficient and hard to ignore
- Naturally commander-damage relevant—pairing her with any 7+ power creature threatens lethal
- Gruul has the best ramp and fattest beaters in the format to feed her ability
- Repeatable threat that comes back from the command zone for low cost

- Ability only triggers on attack and depends on having another big creature in play
- Highly vulnerable to removal, blockers, and combat tricks since it's all combat-based
- No built-in evasion or protection—gets chump-blocked or killed before connecting
- Gruul lacks card draw and interaction, so she can run out of gas against control

- Surrak Dragonclaw — Gives your big creatures haste and uncounterability to reliably set up Tuya's attack.
Upgrade Path
Add evasion and protection (Rancor, Whispersilk Cloak, Heroic Intervention) so Tuya reliably connects, and lean into double strike (Berserkers' Onslaught, Temur Battle Rage) to convert her doubled power into one-shot kills. Improve consistency with fast ramp (Sol Ring, mana dorks, Three Visits) and pick a few resilient, naturally large creatures so the +X/+X is always sizable. Round out the weakness in card flow with Guardian Project, Beast Whisperer, and burst draw to keep refueling.
