Gameplan

Wydwen is a slippery Dimir flier that dodges removal by bouncing herself for {U}{B} and 1 life, letting you protect a Voltron threat or repeatedly reuse enter-the-battlefield value. Play a tempo/control game: hold up flash interaction, deploy on opponents' end steps, and grind incremental advantage until you fly over for lethal or assemble a combo.

Strengths

  • Self-bounce makes her extremely resilient to targeted removal and board wipes
  • Flash + flying enables instant-speed politics and surprise blocks/attacks
  • Cheap commander tax-dodging recursion that abuses ETB and blink synergies
  • Dimir colors give the best removal, counters, and card advantage in the format

Weaknesses

  • Her ability does nothing on its own to win — needs a strong supporting shell
  • Bouncing repeatedly is mana- and life-intensive, draining resources
  • Low base power (1/3-ish stats) means slow as a pure Voltron beater without buffs
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate, taxes (Rule of Law effects), and edict/sacrifice removal that ignores her bounce

Upgrade Path

Lean into protection and evasion: add cheap equipment/auras (Sword of Feast and Famine, Rogue's Passage) to weaponize her flying, plus flash-enabled interaction (Fierce Guardianship, Force of Negation). To raise power, build a true Faeries tribal or Dimir tempo-control shell with Bitterblossom, Spellstutter Sprite, and card-draw engines, and add a compact combo finisher so you're not relying solely on slow commander damage.
