BuildCard details

The Commander

Whenever Ashe attacks, look at the top five cards of your library. You may reveal an artifact card from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Guide

Gameplan

Ashe is a mono-white artifact-aggro/Voltron commander who wants to attack every turn to dig five deep for artifacts, refilling your hand with Equipment, mana rocks, and bombs. Suit her up early, swing in, and convert the steady artifact card advantage into a wide or tall board that closes games. You're essentially playing a value beatdown deck that never runs out of gas as long as Ashe keeps connecting.

Strengths

  • Repeatable, color-screw-proof card advantage in mono-white, which historically struggles to draw
  • Synergizes with any artifact-heavy build, from Equipment Voltron to artifact tokens
  • Cheap three-mana body that's easy to protect and recast
  • Filters your deck, smoothing draws toward your best artifacts

Weaknesses

  • Card advantage is conditional on Ashe attacking and surviving—removal or blockers shut it off
  • Only sees artifacts; whiffs entirely on non-artifact lands, creatures, and spells
  • Mono-white means weak interaction, no card draw outside artifacts, and limited ramp
  • Vulnerable to the typical white pillow-fort/aggro problems: no recursion and slow without combat damage

Key Cards

  • Swiftfoot Boots — Hexproof and haste let Ashe attack safely the turn she's equipped to start triggering immediately.
  • Skullclamp — Stacks even more card draw on top of Ashe's trigger and is exactly the kind of artifact you want to dig into.
  • Sword of Feast and Famine — Protection plus an untap effect makes Ashe a near-unblockable threat that fuels both attacks and ramp.
  • Puresteel Paladin — Free Equipment attaching with metalcraft turns Ashe's artifact gravy train into a Voltron engine.
  • Sigarda's Aid — Flash in and attach Equipment at instant speed to dodge removal and ambush blockers.
  • Brilliant Restoration — A mono-white payoff that returns all your dug-up artifacts to the battlefield for an explosive turn.

Upgrade Path

Lean into the best mono-white ramp (Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Smothering Tithe) and tutors like Steelshaper's Gift, Stoneforge Mystic, and Open the Armory to consistently find your protective Equipment. Add evasion and protection (Whispersilk Cloak, Lightning Greaves) so Ashe always connects, and include white's top-tier interaction—Swords to Plowshares, Generous Gift, Teferi's Protection—to defend your engine. Push the ceiling with a tight artifact combo finish or stax pieces like Smothering Tithe and Esper Sentinel to slow the table while you grind.

Core Cards

Win Conditions

  • ▸Commander damage from a Sword-equipped, evasive Ashe
  • ▸Going wide with artifact tokens backed by an anthem like Cathars' Crusade or Shared Animosity
  • ▸Assembling an artifact combo such as recurring Skullclamp value into a finisher
  • ▸Beating down with a board of buffed creatures while opponents run out of resources

Archetypes

  • Equipment Voltron — Ashe digs for the Swords and Equipment she needs to become a lethal, evasive threat.
  • Artifact Aggro — Her attack trigger rewards a board full of cheap artifacts and aggressive creatures.
  • Artifact Tokens/Affinity — She refuels artifact-matters payoffs like Servos, Treasures, and metalcraft enablers.
  • Mono-White Midrange — Steady artifact card advantage lets white grind out value it normally can't access.
