BuildCard details

The Commander

{2}, {T}: Create a 0/1 green Egg creature token with defender.

Whenever an Egg you control dies, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card. Put that card onto the battlefield and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Guide

Gameplan

Atla Palani turns Egg tokens into a cheating-into-play engine: make Eggs, sacrifice them, and slam your biggest creatures directly onto the battlefield for free. Early turns are spent ramping and building infrastructure to mass-produce and reliably kill Eggs, then you snowball into game-ending fatties or combo pieces.

Strengths

  • Cheats huge creatures into play without paying mana, dodging counterspells on the spell
  • Built-in repeatable token engine that fuels sacrifice synergies and combos
  • Naya colors give access to elite ramp, fight removal, and powerful payoffs
  • Can pivot between fair beatdown and dedicated infinite combos

Weaknesses

  • Highly random hits without library manipulation — you may flip the wrong creature
  • Slow and mana-intensive without haste enablers; Egg activation is {2} each
  • Commander-dependent; if Atla gets hated out the deck loses its engine
  • Wrath effects and graveyard hate can blow out the board you worked to assemble

Key Cards

  • Goblin Bombardment — Free, repeatable sacrifice outlet that lets you pop Eggs at instant speed every turn.
  • Ashnod's Altar — Sacrifices Eggs for mana to make more Eggs, enabling explosive turns and combos.
  • Terror of the Peaks — A perfect Atla hit that deals damage whenever creatures enter, often killing the table.
  • Dragon Broodmother — Pumps out evasive dragons and, with a sac outlet, loops into infinite tokens and triggers.
  • Skullclamp — Equips 0/1 Eggs and immediately draws two cards while triggering Atla's reveal.

Upgrade Path

Add library stacking like Vampiric Tutor, Worldly Tutor, and Brainstorm so Atla's reveals hit exactly the creature you want. Lean into a compact infinite line (Atla + Ashnod's Altar + Karmic Guide/Reveillark or a Terror of the Peaks payoff) for guaranteed wins, and run protection like Heroic Intervention plus fast mana such as Sol Ring and Smothering Tithe to deploy the engine ahead of removal.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Cheating in haymakers like Terror of the Peaks or Craterhoof Behemoth for lethal swings
  • ▸Infinite combos with Eggs, sac outlets, and recursion (Karmic Guide, Reveillark)
  • ▸Aristocrats drain via Blood Artist effects as Eggs and creatures repeatedly die
  • ▸Going wide with token armies and overrunning the board

Archetypes

  • Combo — Egg tokens plus free sac outlets and creatures like Karmic Guide enable infinite loops.
  • Aristocrats — Dying Eggs feed sacrifice payoffs while triggering Atla's cheat-into-play ability.
  • Big Creatures / Cheat — Atla puts giant beaters and ETB bombs onto the battlefield without casting them.
  • Tokens — Repeatable Egg generation supports anthem and sacrifice token strategies.
