BuildCard details

The Commander

Whenever a creature attacks one of your opponents or a planeswalker an opponent controls, that creature gets +2/+0 until end of turn.

Guide

Gameplan

Gahiji turns every attacking creature into a bigger threat and pushes the table to swing at your opponents instead of you. You build a wide aggressive board, leverage the +2/+0 on your whole team during combat, and close games with overwhelming damage or a big alpha strike. As a Naya Goad/group-slug commander, you also benefit from politics—encouraging others to attack away from you.

Strengths

  • Free anthem-style +2/+0 every combat, including on tokens, making go-wide aggro hit hard
  • Naya colors give access to the best ramp, removal, and combat support in the format
  • Synergizes with Goad effects since goaded creatures attacking opponents trigger the buff
  • Cheap commander to recast and pressures the whole table immediately

Weaknesses

  • Only buffs power, not toughness—vulnerable to board wipes and chump blocking
  • Lacks built-in evasion or card advantage, so you can stall against go-tall or fog decks
  • Aggressive plan paints a target and can run out of gas if removed repeatedly
  • Buff applies to all attacking creatures, so politically motivated swings can also empower opponents

Key Cards

  • Disrupt Decorum — Goads every opponent's board, forcing attacks that trigger Gahiji and devastate the table.
  • Marisi, Breaker of the Coil — Adds repeatable goad in combat, weaponizing opponents' creatures alongside your own.
  • Craterhoof Behemoth — Turns your buffed wide board into a one-shot lethal alpha strike.
  • Iroas, God of Victory — Makes your attackers unblockable-ish via menace and indestructible in combat, perfect for swinging out.
  • Aurelia, the Warleader — Grants extra combat steps, doubling Gahiji's buff and your damage output.
  • Smothering Tithe — Provides the mana to rebuild and recast threats in a grindy aggressive deck.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the curve with strong ramp (Sol Ring, Smothering Tithe, mana dorks) and add more goad pieces (Disrupt Decorum, Marisi, Grenzo) to weaponize opponents' boards. Prioritize evasion and finishers—Craterhoof Behemoth, Pathbreaker Ibex, Aurelia—so your buffed board actually connects. Add protection and recursion like Heroic Intervention and Boros Charm to survive wraths that punish your low-toughness army.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Alpha strike with a buffed token army, often via Craterhoof Behemoth or Overrun effects
  • ▸Repeated extra combats from Aurelia or Moraug closing out tables
  • ▸Goad-fueled chaos where opponents grind each other down while you swing for lethal
  • ▸Voltron-lite beats with a single evasive, pumped threat

Archetypes

  • Tokens / Go-Wide Aggro — Gahiji buffs every attacking token, turning small bodies into a lethal swarm.
  • Goad / Group Slug — Forcing opponents to attack each other triggers Gahiji while you stay safe.
  • Big Creatures / Stompy — Naya ramp into fatties that get even bigger when they swing.
  • Politics — The +2/+0 incentive lets you broker attacks away from yourself.
