Gameplan
Ihsan's Shade is a vanilla 6-mana 5/5 with protection from white, so this is a mono-black Voltron deck built around making him an unkillable, evasive threat. Ramp into him early, slap on equipment, auras, and pump effects, and beat opponents down across a few combat steps while leveraging black's reach (tutors, recursion, removal) to clear blockers and protect the plan.
Strengths
- Protection from white dodges a huge swath of premium removal (Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Wrath effects) and white blockers
- Mono-black gives unmatched tutoring, recursion, and point removal to clear the path
- Cheap commander relative to many Voltron pieces lets you deploy and equip in the same turns

Weaknesses
- A vanilla body with no built-in evasion or protection beyond pro-white means it folds to blue counters/bounce, black edicts, and -X/-X effects

Lean on black tutors (Demonic/Vampiric Tutor, Diabolic Intent) to find your best equipment and protection, and include reanimation (Reanimate, Animate Dead) so the Shade keeps coming back. Tighten the curve with fast mana (Sol Ring, Cabal Coffers + Urborg) and add a few unblockable/protection-granting spells to make combats lethal and resilient.
