BuildCard details

The Commander

{G}: Target land becomes a 1/1 creature until end of turn. It's still a land.

{2}{G}{G}{G}: Creatures you control get +3/+3 and gain trample until end of turn.

Guide

Gameplan

Ramp into Kamahl, flood the board with lands and tokens, then use his second ability as a repeatable Overrun to swarm the table for lethal damage in one turn. Early turns are spent ramping and developing mana, midgame you protect Kamahl and build a wide board, then you alpha strike.

Strengths

  • Repeatable, mana-positive Overrun effect that turns any wide board into a kill
  • First ability animates your own lands into attackers and can also create blockers/removal fodder
  • Plays well in mono-green's strong ramp shell, hitting the activation cost easily
  • Can win out of nowhere once enough mana is online

Weaknesses

  • Six mana for a commander that does nothing the turn he enters without extra mana
  • Highly vulnerable to board wipes and spot removal aimed at him
  • Mono-green struggles with interaction, card advantage, and answering noncreature threats
  • Animating lands into 1/1 creatures exposes them to Wrath effects and edicts

Key Cards

  • Craterhoof Behemoth — A second one-shot Overrun that stacks with Kamahl for absurd, redundant lethal swings.
  • Cultivate — Cheap ramp and fixing that accelerates you to Kamahl and his mana-hungry pump ability.
  • Heroic Intervention — Cheap protection from board wipes and targeted removal during your decisive alpha strike.
  • Doubling Season — Doubles your token producers so Kamahl's pump finds far more bodies to buff.
  • Cathars' Crusade — Turns every token and creature you make into a snowballing anthem that compounds Kamahl's pump.

Upgrade Path

Add more mana doublers and rocks (Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx; Mana Reflection) so you can pump multiple times or hold up protection. Lean into redundant Overrun effects (Pathbreaker Ibex, Triumph of the Hordes) and token engines, and include green's best protection (Heroic Intervention, Tamiyo's Safekeeping) plus interaction like Beast Within and Heroic Intervention to survive wipes.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Activate the +3/+3 trample anthem on a wide board for a one-turn alpha strike
  • ▸Stack Kamahl's pump with Craterhoof Behemoth or Overrun for overwhelming trample damage
  • ▸Animate a field of lands and swing with a buffed army

Archetypes

  • Tokens / Go-Wide — Kamahl's +3/+3 trample finisher rewards flooding the board with creature tokens.
  • Stompy / Big Creatures — His pump and land-animation amplify a deck of large beaters into trampling lethal.
  • Lands — His first ability animates lands as attackers, synergizing with landfall and ramp shells.
