The Commander

Whenever Ultimecia enters or attacks, surveil 2. (Look at the top two cards of your library, then put any number of them into your graveyard and the rest on top of your library in any order.)

At the beginning of your end step, you may pay {4}{U}{U}{B}{B} and exile eight cards from your graveyard. If you do, transform Ultimecia.

Menace (This creature can't be blocked except by two or more creatures.)

Time Compression — When this creature transforms into Ultimecia, Omnipotent, take an extra turn after this one.

Guide

Gameplan

Lead with Ultimecia for repeatable surveil to load your graveyard, then at your end step pay {4}{U}{U}{B}{B} and exile eight cards to flip her into Omnipotent and steal an extra turn. Use those bonus turns to attack with a menacing 4/4, refuel the yard, and snowball card advantage and tempo until you bury the table.

Strengths

  • Repeatable surveil on ETB and attack smooths draws and fuels the graveyard
  • Free extra turns (no mana spent beyond the activation) that chain card and combat advantage
  • Menace makes her hard to block and a reliable damage clock
  • Lives in the strongest control color pair for counters, removal, and recursion

Weaknesses

  • Transform is mana-hungry ({4}{U}{U}{B}{B}) and demands eight graveyard cards every time
  • Graveyard hate and exile effects shut off the engine entirely
  • No built-in evasion beyond menace and no protection—she's removal-bait
  • Slow to come online without dedicated self-mill support
  • Extra turns are wasted if your board can't pressure life totals

Key Cards

  • Stitcher's Supplier — Cheap, repeatable self-mill that quickly stocks the eight cards needed to transform.
  • Glimpse the Unthinkable — Dumps a huge chunk into the yard in one card, accelerating the first flip.
  • Reto, Master Treasure Hunter — Stand-in—use any consistent mill; prioritize effects that bin five-plus per turn.
  • Sword of Feast and Famine — Untaps your lands so you can transform and still hold up interaction, plus protects her.
  • Mystic Sanctuary — Recurs key counterspells and supports the extra-turn value game.
  • Eternal Witness — Buys back the best card you milled or exiled-adjacent value to keep refueling.
  • Cyclonic Rift — The premier blue payoff to convert extra turns and tempo into a lethal swing.

Upgrade Path

Add the best fast mana and rituals (Sol Ring, Dark Ritual, mana rocks) so you can hit {4}{U}{U}{B}{B} a turn early and still interact. Stack efficient self-mill and recursion (Stitcher's Supplier, Glimpse the Unthinkable, Eternal Witness, Mystic Sanctuary) plus extra-turn payoffs like Cyclonic Rift and equipment to make her unblockable. Round out with top-tier UB interaction—counterspells, spot removal, and a graveyard-recovery plan like Riptide Laboratory or protection to weather hate.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Repeated commander combat damage with menace, multiplied by chained extra turns
  • ▸Overrunning the table during stacked extra turns with extra-combat or alpha-strike payoffs
  • ▸Grinding card advantage and removal until opponents are locked out, then finishing with a big spell or mill
  • ▸Reanimating large threats off the loaded graveyard to close games

Archetypes

  • Mill/Self-Mill Value — Surveil and dedicated milling fill the graveyard that powers her transform engine.
  • Extra Turns — Time Compression hands you free turns each flip, rewarding chaining and big payoffs.
  • Control — UB counters, removal, and card advantage let you protect Ultimecia and grind out the table.
  • Reanimator — The same overfilled graveyard supports reanimation targets and recursion as backup plans.
