The Commander

Whenever an enchanted creature attacks one of your opponents, it gets +2/+0 and gains trample until end of turn.

Whenever an Aura you control is put into your graveyard from the battlefield, exile it. Until the end of your next turn, you may cast that card.

Gameplan

Mazzy is a Naya Auras commander: suit up creatures with Auras to push big trampling attacks while shrugging off removal because your Auras come back. Turn to turn you ramp, deploy a cheap evasive carrier, pile on enchantments, and swing for lethal commander or combat damage. The second ability turns 'two-for-one' removal into card advantage, letting you recast Auras from exile after they die.

Strengths

  • Built-in card advantage and removal insurance—killing your enchanted creature just lets you recast the Auras.
  • Naya colors give access to the best ramp, removal, and Aura tutors in the format.
  • The attack trigger stacks per enchanted creature, so wide Aura-heavy boards hit absurdly hard with trample.
  • Can recover from board wipes far better than typical Voltron decks since Auras return to be recast.

Weaknesses

  • Classic Aura fragility: a single bounce or sacrifice effect can still set you back tempo even if cards return.
  • Relies on creatures sticking around as carriers; mass creature removal still slows you down.
  • The recast window is temporary—if you can't replay returned Auras in time, the value evaporates.
  • Can be focused early as a known aggro threat, drawing removal before you're set up.

  • Ethereal Armor — Cheap Aura that scales with your enchantment count and grants first strike, a perfect Mazzy carrier buff.
  • All That Glitters — Massive cheap pump that counts artifacts and enchantments, turning one carrier into a one-shot kill.
  • Sram, Senior Edificer — Draws a card every time you cast an Aura, refilling your hand as you build the board.
  • Sigarda's Aid — Flash Auras in at instant speed and grant your creature hexproof-via-tempo to dodge removal and ambush blockers.
  • Shielded by Faith — Indestructible Aura that returns under Mazzy if destroyed, making your carrier nearly unkillable.
  • Open the Armory — Tutors any Aura or Equipment to set up your key buff exactly when needed.
  • Generous Gift — Flexible Naya removal that answers any permanent while you race ahead on the battlefield.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and ramp (Sol Ring, Birds of Paradise, Smothering Tithe) to deploy a carrier and Auras a turn earlier. Lean into protection—Snakeskin Veil, Sigarda's Aid, totem-armor Auras—so your carrier survives spot removal, and include more Enchantress draw (Setessan Champion, Kor Spiritdancer) to never run out of gas. For a top-end finish, run Eldrazi Conscription or Daybreak Coronet as backbreaking buffs that Mazzy can recur after removal.
