The Commander

Flying, trample

At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Palladia-Mors unless you pay {R}{G}{W}.

Guide

Gameplan

Cast a big Naya beater (7/7 flying trample) and either swing for commander damage or use her as a centerpiece while you flood the board. Most builds lean into ramp and stompy creatures, treating Palladia-Mors as a reliable evasive threat that closes games in three hits. The {R}{G}{W} upkeep tax is trivial in three colors, so she's effectively free to keep around.

Strengths

  • 7/7 flying trample is hard to block and threatens 21 commander damage in three swings
  • Naya colors give access to the best ramp, removal, and fatties
  • Upkeep tax is easy to pay and rarely costs you the commander
  • Evasion makes her an excellent equipment/aura carrier

Weaknesses

  • No built-in protection — dies to spot removal and gets chump-blocked despite trample partially
  • Eight mana is steep without ramp; slow to deploy
  • Vanilla-ish beater provides little card advantage or value engine on her own
  • Flying/trample doesn't dodge board wipes or sacrifice effects

Key Cards

  • Swiftfoot Boots — Hexproof and haste let her attack immediately and survive targeted removal.
  • Embercleave — Turns a single flying trample swing into a near-lethal commander-damage strike.
  • Cultivate — Ramps and fixes the GRW costs so you cast her early and pay her upkeep easily.
  • Skullclamp — Provides the card draw Naya stompy badly lacks if you run token or small creatures.
  • Berserk — Doubles her power for an explosive trample kill out of nowhere.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and ramp (Sol Ring, Birds of Paradise, Nature's Lore) to deploy her ahead of curve, plus protection like Lightning Greaves and Heroic Intervention. Lean fully into either Voltron (Embercleave, Berserk, Rancor) or go-wide finishers (Craterhoof Behemoth, Triumph of the Hordes) so you have a deterministic kill rather than fair beatdown. Tighten removal with Beast Within, Generous Gift, and a few board wipes you can rebuild from.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸21 commander damage via flying trample, often boosted by Embercleave or Berserk
  • ▸Overrun-style mass pump (Craterhoof Behemoth, Pathbreaker Ibex) for a one-shot alpha strike
  • ▸Grinding the table down with a board of big creatures backed by removal

Archetypes

  • Voltron — Flying trample makes her an ideal target for equipment and pump to deal lethal commander damage fast.
  • Big Stompy — Naya ramp into a wall of fatties with Palladia-Mors as the evasive finisher.
  • Ramp/Midrange — Her high mana value rewards aggressive mana acceleration and a curve of impactful threats.
