The Commander

Flying, lifelink

Whenever you cast a Pegasus, Unicorn, or Horse creature spell, copy it. (The copy becomes a token.)

Other Pegasi, Unicorns, and Horses you control get +1/+1.

Guide

Gameplan

Build a mono-white tribal deck around Pegasi, Unicorns, and Horses, copying every relevant creature spell you cast to flood the board at double speed. Anthem your team with Thurid's +1/+1 plus more lords, then swing wide with evasive fliers backed by lifelink. You win by overwhelming the table with a buffed, token-doubled herd before they can stabilize.

Strengths

  • Free token generation: every Pegasus/Unicorn/Horse cast doubles for value, snowballing board presence fast.
  • Built-in anthem and lifelink keep you ahead on the race and buffer against aggro.
  • Flying on Thurid and many Pegasi gives evasive, hard-to-block damage.
  • Mono-white means consistent mana and access to strong board wipes and protection.

Weaknesses

  • Narrow tribal pool: relatively few high-impact Pegasi/Unicorns/Horses exist, hurting deck quality.
  • Heavily reliant on the commander; without Thurid the deck is just mediocre white creatures.
  • Mono-white struggles with card draw and ramp compared to other colors.
  • Board wipes can erase your doubled army in a single card.

Key Cards

  • Pegasus Guardian — Cheap flier that becomes two evasive threats and benefits from the anthem immediately.
  • Crested Sunmare — A Horse payoff that creates indestructible tokens when you gain life, synergizing with Thurid's lifelink.
  • Emeria Shepherd — Recurs creatures and as a flier-heavy white deck you reliably trigger landfall reanimation.
  • Smothering Tithe — Premier mono-white ramp to power out your tribal spells and copy triggers faster.
  • Esper Sentinel — Cheap artifact creature that refills your hand, critical for white's card-draw woes.
  • Akroma's Will — A finisher that grants flying/lifelink or protection to alpha strike or save the herd.

Upgrade Path

Add the best mono-white staples for card advantage and ramp—Smothering Tithe, Esper Sentinel, Welcoming Vampire, and Mind's Eye—to offset white's weaknesses. Lean into payoffs like Craterhoof Behemoth, Cathars' Crusade, and Intangible Virtue to convert your doubled tokens into faster kills, and include protection like Teferi's Protection and Heroic Intervention against wraths. Tighten the creature base to only the most efficient Horses/Unicorns/Pegasi so Thurid's copy trigger always hits something worthwhile.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Swinging wide with anthem-buffed, doubled flying Pegasi for evasive combat damage.
  • ▸Overrun effects like Craterhoof Behemoth or Akroma's Will turning the herd lethal.

Archetypes

  • Tribal Tokens — Copying each creature spell doubles your herd while the anthem makes them all bigger threats.
  • Aggro Go-Wide — Evasive buffed Pegasi swing for lethal across multiple turns backed by lifelink stability.
  • Lifegain Midrange — Lifelink plus Crested Sunmare and Felidar Sovereign turn life totals into an additional axis and wincon.
