BuildCard details

The Commander

Enrage — Whenever Vrondiss is dealt damage, you may create a 5/4 red and green Dragon Spirit creature token with "When this token deals damage, sacrifice it."

Whenever you roll one or more dice, you may have Vrondiss deal 1 damage to itself.

Guide

Gameplan

Vrondiss turns dice rolls into an army: every roll lets you ping Vrondiss for 1, triggering Enrage to spawn 5/4 Dragon Spirit tokens. You build a dice-matters engine, flood the board with fragile-but-huge dragons, and either swing for lethal or feed the tokens into sacrifice payoffs before they die.

Strengths

  • Generates a snowballing stream of 5/4 bodies off cheap repeatable dice-roll effects
  • Self-damage is a built-in, free way to keep making tokens without needing combat
  • Deep synergy with the d20/dice-matters package in GR (Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, Krark, etc.)
  • 5/4 dragons hit hard fast and pair well with sacrifice and aristocrat outlets

Weaknesses

  • Tokens self-sacrifice after dealing damage, so they're disposable attackers rather than a durable board
  • Relies on dice-roll enablers and self-ping loops that can stall without the right pieces
  • Vulnerable to board wipes and graveyard hate that erase your token swarm
  • Pinging yourself/Vrondiss can backfire against burn or punisher effects
  • No card advantage built in beyond bodies—can run out of gas

Key Cards

  • Barbarian Class — Repeatable dice rolling each combat plus token buffs that turn your dragons into a lethal swarm.
  • Delina, Wild Mage — Copies your dice rollers and attackers, and her roll triggers fuel more Vrondiss damage and dragons.
  • Pixie Guide — Advantage on every roll and an extra die, dramatically improving your dice-matters payoffs.
  • Wild Magic Sorcerer — Reduces costs and lets you roll an extra d20, accelerating the engine and giving free spells.
  • Krark, the Thumbless — Coin/dice synergy partner-style chaos that triggers Vrondiss while replaying spells.
  • Goblin Bombardment — Free sacrifice outlet that lets you ping Vrondiss and convert dying tokens into reach damage.
  • Farideh, Devil's Chosen — Pumps your dice-rolling creatures and rolls dice on attack for repeatable Vrondiss triggers.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the dice-matters enablers (Pixie Guide, Wild Magic Sorcerer, Barbarian Class, Delina) so every turn reliably produces tokens, and add free sacrifice outlets plus Blood Artist/Bastion of Remembrance effects to drain when dragons die. Layer in token anthems (Beastmaster Ascension, Craterhoof Behemoth) and trample enablers for explosive alpha strikes, and shore up card draw with Guttural Response-style refills like Outpost Siege or The Great Henge to avoid running dry.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Swarming with multiple 5/4 Dragon Spirits and trample/anthem effects for combat lethal
  • ▸Aristocrats drain via sacrificing tokens to outlets like Goblin Bombardment or Blood Artist effects
  • ▸Repeatable damage and dice-roll burn (Delina copies, Spinning Wheel-style effects) finishing the table

Archetypes

  • Dice Matters — Vrondiss's self-damage triggers on every roll, making him the centerpiece of GR d20/coin payoffs.
  • Tokens — Enrage spits out 5/4 Dragon Spirits whenever Vrondiss takes damage, building a wide board fast.
  • Aristocrats — The self-sacrificing tokens want sac outlets and death payoffs to extract value before they vanish.
  • Aggro/Combat — 5/4 bodies plus anthem and trample effects close games through quick beatdown.
