BuildCard details

The Commander

Whenever Quickbeam or another Treefolk you control enters, up to two target creatures each get +2/+2 and gain trample until end of turn.

Guide

Gameplan

Quickbeam is a mono-green Treefolk-tribal commander that pumps and trampling your team every time a Treefolk hits the battlefield. You ramp into Quickbeam early, flood the board with Treefolk and Forest-matters payoffs, then use repeated ETB pump triggers to crash through blockers for lethal damage. Blink and recursion effects let you re-trigger Quickbeam multiple times per turn.

Strengths

  • Repeatable, free combat boosts that grant evasion via trample
  • Mono-green gives access to the best ramp and recursion in the format
  • Treefolk tribe loves lands and Forests, enabling powerful synergy payoffs
  • Big, sticky bodies that are hard to remove and good at blocking too

Weaknesses

  • Mono-green has poor interaction and almost no spot/board-wipe protection
  • Triggers do nothing without combat — easily walled by fliers or deathtouch chumps
  • Treefolk are slow and clunky; the deck can be outraced by faster combo decks
  • Relies heavily on Quickbeam being on the battlefield to function

Key Cards

  • Doran, the Siege Tower — Turns your fat-bottomed Treefolk into massive attackers, doubling down on the tribe's high toughness.
  • Indomitable Ancients — A 2/10 that becomes a brutal trampler with Quickbeam pumps and Doran active.
  • Timber Protector — Anthem and indestructible protection for your Treefolk, shielding against board wipes.
  • Conifer Wurm — Scales with your Forests and is itself a Treefolk that triggers Quickbeam.
  • Roots of Wisdom — Treefolk-and-land card advantage that refuels the deck's grind plan.
  • Cloudstone Curio — Lets you bounce and replay Treefolk to repeatedly fire Quickbeam's pump trigger.

Upgrade Path

Add efficient green ramp (Sol Ring, Three Visits, Nature's Lore, Cultivate) to deploy Quickbeam faster and rebuild after wipes. Lean into trample finishers and protection — Heroic Intervention, Overwhelming Stampede, and Craterhoof Behemoth turn pump triggers into lethal — and include blink/recursion like Cloudstone Curio and Eternal Witness to maximize ETB value. Improve interaction with Beast Within and Green Sun's Zenith to tutor key Treefolk.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Swinging with trampling, pumped Treefolk for large chunks of commander damage
  • ▸Overrun-style alpha strikes via Overwhelming Stampede or Triumph of the Hordes
  • ▸Going tall on a single creature like Indomitable Ancients for one-shot kills
  • ▸Grinding card advantage and out-sizing the board until opponents can't block

Archetypes

  • Treefolk Tribal — Every Treefolk that enters triggers Quickbeam, rewarding a dense tribal shell.
  • Go-Wide Aggro — Quickbeam pumps up to two creatures with trample to push damage through chump blockers.
  • Lands/Forest Matters — Treefolk synergize with land counts and ramp, supporting a green ramp-and-stomp plan.
  • Blink — Flicker effects re-trigger Quickbeam and other Treefolk ETBs for repeated pumps.
