Why is this card good?

Temple of Abandon is a solid, unspectacular dual land for any Gruul (RG) deck. The scry 1 is the selling point: it smooths early draws and helps you dig toward lands or gas, which matters more in singleton Commander where consistency is harder to come by. The catch is that it enters tapped. In a 100-card format that's usually fine — you'll have plenty of turns — but it's a real tempo hit in fast, aggressive Gruul lists or competitive pods where you can't afford a tapped land on a key turn. Who wants it: budget or midrange Gruul decks (Xenagos, Gruul tokens, big-stompy ramp) that value the scry and don't mind the speed loss. It's a clean upgrade over a basic when you have time. Skip it if: you're running heavy ramp/fetch packages, want untapped fixing for a fast curve, or have access to better untapped duals (Stomping Ground, Cinder Glade, Rootbound Crag). It's a filler-tier land, not a priority pickup.

You perform the actions stated on a card in sequence. For some spells and abilities, that means you'll scry last. For others, that means you'll scry and then perform other actions.

  • 2013-09-15

When you scry, you may put all the cards you look at back on top of your library, you may put all of those cards on the bottom of your library, or you may put some of those cards on top and the rest of them on the bottom.

  • 2013-09-15

You choose how to order cards returned to your library after scrying no matter where you put them.

  • 2013-09-15

Scry appears on some spells and abilities with one or more targets. If all of the spell or ability's targets are illegal when it tries to resolve, it won't resolve and none of its effects will happen. You won't scry.
