Indoraptor, the Perfect Hybrid

Mana value3Rank#8,754
BuildCard details

The Commander

Bloodthirst X (This creature enters with X +1/+1 counters on it, where X is the damage dealt to your opponents this turn.)

Menace

Enrage — Whenever Indoraptor is dealt damage, choose an opponent at random. Indoraptor deals damage equal to its power to that player unless they sacrifice a nontoken creature of their choice.

Guide

Gameplan

Indoraptor is a Jund aggro/enrage piece that snowballs into a hasty beater. Deal early damage so it enters huge via Bloodthirst, then weaponize its Enrage trigger by repeatedly pinging it to force opponents to either lose creatures or take fat hits. You grind the board through sacrifice pressure and dinosaur enrage synergies, closing with menace beats or recurring damage loops.

Strengths

  • Comes down as a large hasty-feeling threat thanks to Bloodthirst plus Jund's wealth of pingers and aggressive creatures.
  • Enrage punishes opponents either way—free damage or forced sacrifices—giving you reach and edict-style removal in one card.
  • Sits in Jund, the best color combo for sacrifice value, recursion, and ramp into bigger threats.
  • Menace makes it hard to block, protecting your damage output and Bloodthirst payoff.

Weaknesses

  • Only 0 base toughness without counters—if it enters small or gets shrunk it dies easily.
  • Enrage targets a random opponent, so you can't always edict the player you want.
  • Relies on dealing combat/noncombat damage before casting it to be impactful; awkward off-curve casts are weak.
  • Spot removal and exile shut down a single creature that the deck leans on heavily.
  • Three colors and counter-dependence make it sensitive to board wipes and graveyard hate.

Key Cards

  • Stuffy Doll — Repeatedly redirect damage to Indoraptor (or itself) to fire Enrage edicts on demand.
  • Brash Taunter — A reusable damage source that pings Indoraptor to trigger Enrage every turn.
  • Marchesa's Decree — Monarch-style or any source that lets you safely deal small damage to keep Enrage chaining—pair with pingers.
  • Pyrohemia — Repeatable board-wide pings that trigger Indoraptor's Enrage while you keep it counter-boosted.
  • Goldspan Dragon — Provides early evasive damage to opponents to maximize Bloodthirst before Indoraptor lands.
  • Ohran Frostfang — Deathtouch plus card draw turns menace attacks into devastating, hard-to-block threats.

Upgrade Path

Add reliable repeatable pingers and self-damage outlets (Stuffy Doll, Brash Taunter, Pyrohemia) plus damage doublers like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight or Furnace of Rath to turn Enrage into a kill engine. Improve the mana base with fetches, duals, and fast ramp (Three Visits, Sakura-Tribe Elder) so you reliably deal early damage for Bloodthirst. Round out with protection (Heroic Intervention, Lightning Greaves) and recursion (Meren, Phyrexian Reclamation) to keep your one-card engine online against removal.

Archetypes

  • Aggro/Voltron — Bloodthirst and menace let you suit up a hasty evasive threat to pressure life totals quickly.
