BuildCard details

The Commander

+2: Discard a card, then draw a card. If a land card is discarded this way, draw an additional card.

−3: Return up to two target land cards from your graveyard to the battlefield.

−11: Destroy up to six target nonland permanents, then create six 2/2 green Cat Warrior creature tokens with forestwalk.

Lord Windgrace can be your commander.

Guide

Gameplan

Lord Windgrace is a Jund lands deck that ramps relentlessly, recurs fetchlands and utility lands from the yard, and grinds out card advantage with his +2 loot ability. You play big mana, drop landfall payoffs, and eventually win with a Field of the Dead army, a fattie, or a combo. Windgrace protects himself by minusing lands back to chump-block and rebuild.

Strengths

  • Powerful, repeatable card advantage and selection from the +2 ticking up every turn
  • Land-based resilience: fetchlands and Crucible effects give near-infinite value loops
  • Deep ramp enables explosive turns and recovers from board wipes easily
  • Strong landfall payoffs and access to all of Jund's best removal and recursion

Weaknesses

  • Slow to close games and can durdle without a tight win package
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate and land destruction shutting off recursion loops
  • Windgrace is fragile early and a juicy target for creature decks
  • Heavy reliance on lands means a clunky draw or Stasis-style stax hurts badly

Key Cards

  • Crucible of Worlds — Lets you replay lands from the graveyard every turn, fueling fetchland loops and constant landfall triggers.
  • Field of the Dead — Turns your high land count into a free, recurring zombie army that wins through attrition.
  • Ramunap Excavator — A creature Crucible that combos with sacrifice lands for repeatable value and landfall.
  • Splendid Reclamation — Mass-returns every land from your graveyard, triggering landfall en masse and refueling after a wipe.
  • Scapeshift — Sacrifices your lands to fetch a deck full of payoffs, enabling Field of the Dead or Valakut burst kills.
  • Lotus Cobra — Generates absurd mana off every landfall, accelerating Windgrace's plan dramatically.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the win package by committing to a Field of the Dead/Valakut Scapeshift line and adding fast mana like Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, and signets. Lean into land loops with Crucible of Worlds, Ramunap Excavator, and sacrifice lands plus payoffs such as Lotus Cobra and Tireless Tracker. Add interaction (Assassin's Trophy, Abrupt Decay, Force of Vigor) and a fast graveyard recursion suite to combat hate and close games before the table stabilizes.

  • Worm Harvest
  • Grisly Salvage
  • Loyal Apprentice

Win Conditions

  • ▸Field of the Dead zombie army overwhelming the table
  • ▸Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle burst damage via Scapeshift
  • ▸Casting and recurring huge threats like Avenger of Zendikar or Craterhoof Behemoth
  • ▸Windgrace's -11 ultimate clearing the board and presenting six attackers

Archetypes

  • Lands — His +2 discards lands for extra cards and his -3 recurs them, making land recursion the core engine.
  • Landfall — Constant land replays from the graveyard trigger payoffs like Field of the Dead, Lotus Cobra, and Avenger of Zendikar.
  • Ramp/Midrange — Big mana plus Jund removal lets you out-value the table and deploy haymakers.
  • Combo — Land loops with Crucible effects plus Scapeshift/Splendid Reclamation enable Valakut and other deterministic kills.
