BuildCard details

The Commander

Braulios's power and toughness are each equal to the number of lands you control.

Whenever Braulios attacks, draw a card, then you may put a land card from your hand onto the battlefield.

Guide

Gameplan

Ramp hard, flood the board with lands, and turn Braulios into a massive *-power beater that draws cards and free-drops extra lands every time he swings. You play out cheap ramp and land-fetch early, deploy Braulios around turn 4-5, and snowball card advantage plus board size until you crash in for lethal or grind opponents out with sheer resources.

Strengths

  • Self-sufficient card advantage and free land drops on every attack
  • Scales naturally with lands, getting huge in any landfall/ramp shell
  • Mono-green ramp makes for explosive starts and consistent mana
  • Cheap to recast and refuels your hand to fight through interaction

Weaknesses

  • P/T tied to lands makes him vulnerable to mass land destruction or Armageddon
  • Mono-green struggles with interaction, flyers, and removing problem permanents
  • Needs to attack to generate value, so blockers and pillow-fort slow him down
  • Removal-heavy tables can keep recasting him expensive and tempo-negative

Key Cards

  • Burgeoning — Lets you dump multiple lands per turn, accelerating Braulios's size and your ramp wildly.
  • Exploration — Doubles your land drops to fuel both attack triggers and raw board development.
  • Crucible of Worlds — Replays fetched and discarded lands, ensuring you always have a land to drop on attack.
  • Rampaging Baloths — Turns each land you drop into a 4/4 Beast, converting Braulios's triggers into a token army.
  • Craterhoof Behemoth — With a high land count and tokens, it ends the game out of nowhere via overrun.
  • Field of the Dead — Your sky-high land count makes Zombie tokens trivial to generate as a backup engine.

Upgrade Path

Add trample and protection (Rancor, Snakeskin Veil, Heroic Intervention, Lightning Greaves) so Braulios reliably connects and survives removal. Tighten the mana with efficient ramp and land-fetch (Sakura-Tribe Elder, Three Visits, Nature's Lore, Crucible loops) plus landfall payoffs like Scute Swarm and Avenger of Zendikar. Top off with Craterhoof Behemoth, Finale of Devastation, and a Reliquary Tower/Kozilek's Command package to weaponize the explosive card draw.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Overrun finishers like Craterhoof Behemoth or Pathbreaker Ibex with a wide board

  • ▸Field of the Dead / token swarms going wide

Archetypes

  • Lands / Landfall — Braulios rewards maximizing land drops with size, draw, and landfall payoffs.
  • Ramp / Big Mana — His scaling body and free lands feed into casting huge green threats early.
  • Voltron — A commander whose power equals your lands can one-shot or commander-damage opponents with trample enablers.
  • Tokens — Landfall token makers like Rampaging Baloths and Avenger of Zendikar turn lands into a wide board.
