BuildCard details

The Commander

{T}: You may put a land card from your hand onto the battlefield. If you control ten or more lands, flip this creature.

{4}{G}{G}, {T}: Create an X/X green Elemental creature token, where X is the number of lands you control.

Guide

Gameplan

Ramp aggressively to flip Budoka Gardener into Dokai at ten lands, then use the activated ability to pump out massive X/X Elementals every turn. The deck wins through go-wide and go-tall green beatdown backed by a huge land count, often closing with one giant trampling token or an overrun effect.

Strengths

  • Cheap two-mana commander that doubles as a ramp engine and a token factory
  • Scales naturally with lands, so every Cultivate-style spell advances multiple plans
  • Mono-green consistency and access to the best ramp and big-creature payoffs
  • Flipped Dokai produces repeatable, enormous threats from the command zone

Weaknesses

  • Slow to come online; needs ten lands before Dokai becomes a real engine
  • Mono-green struggles with interaction—few answers to flyers, counters, or removal
  • Tokens are vulnerable to board wipes, which reset all your invested mana
  • No evasion built in, so big Elementals can be chumped or stalled

Key Cards

  • Crucible of Worlds — Lets you replay fetchlands and ramp lands from the yard, accelerating to ten lands and beyond.
  • Cultivate — Puts an extra land into play to push toward the flip while fixing your land drops.
  • Craterhoof Behemoth — Turns your wide Elemental board into a lethal alpha strike in one swing.
  • Scute Swarm — Snowballs with every land drop alongside your high land count for an overwhelming token army.
  • Khalni Heart Expedition — Cheap double-land ramp that helps hit ten lands fast to flip Gardener.
  • Heroic Intervention — Protects your board and tokens from wraths and targeted removal at instant speed.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and untap effects (Sol Ring, Nature's Lore, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger) to reach the flip faster and double land triggers. Include land-untap combos like Selvala or Argothian Elder with Crucible loops for infinite mana into giant tokens, and pack more protection (Heroic Intervention, Tamiyo's Safekeeping) and recursion to survive wraths. Top-end payoffs like Avenger of Zendikar, Craterhoof, and Finale of Devastation give consistent one-shot kills.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Overrun effects like Craterhoof Behemoth or Overwhelming Stampede turning the board lethal
  • ▸A single enormous trampling Elemental or pumped commander-adjacent threat
  • ▸Going wide with token generators (Scute Swarm, Avenger of Zendikar) and swarming
  • ▸Infinite mana combos producing an arbitrarily large army of Elementals

Archetypes

  • Lands/Ramp — Budoka rewards stacking lands and provides extra land drops to fuel a high-count manabase.
  • Tokens — Dokai's activated ability and synergistic land-based token makers flood the board with bodies.
  • Stompy/Big Mana — Massive land counts enable huge X/X tokens and expensive green payoffs.
  • Combo — Land-untap and token loops can generate infinite mana or arbitrarily large Elementals.
